Student of warfare, proponent of peace
From war zones to the halls of the Pentagon, Dr. Seth Jones’s scholarship and government service have directly impacted some of the most important national security decisions over the past two decades. An expert on counterterrorism and irregular warfare, Jones’s work is fundamental to how governments achieve peace. He has advised senior policymakers, members of Congress, and heads of state; worked in-theater advising the commanding general of U.S. Special Operations; and authored multiple definitive volumes on the topic. Jones leads the International Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a leading international relations think tank, and teaches at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School.
