Dr. Austin Moyle (US’13, C’17)

Advancing science to protect patients

Science is less a discipline of knowing, than of asking and learning. It’s no wonder, then, that Austin Moyle punches above his weight. Always drawn to big questions, Moyle was reading Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History of Time as a Principia fifth grader.

A true seeker obsessed with applying his spirit of discovery to serve the greater good, Moyle complemented his Principia Chemistry degree with a minor in Sociology and Anthropology.

He got his shot to benefit the world almost immediately. While still in graduate school, Moyle was called into service to study the COVID virus with the goal of neutralizing it—leading collaborations with scientists from the top pharmaceutical companies and publishing breakthrough findings. His work earned him the “Next Generation Investigator” Award and has aided in global life-saving efforts.

Today, Dr. Moyle is a senior scientist at AbbVie, a global biopharmaceutical company, and serves as guest editor for a special issue of the American Chemical Society (ACS) Chemical Health & Safety journal.
